A metronome that does more than click

Choose which beats you hear, put the click on 2 and 4, lay a drum groove or a drone under it, and record a loop on top.

What it does

  • Set the tempo by dragging the big number, using the slider, or tapping it in.
  • Make each beat a click, an accent or silent, or hear only 2 and 4 or only the downbeat. Time signatures run from 2/4 to 7/8, with eighths, triplets, sixteenths and swing.
  • Record a 2, 4 or 8 bar loop, or type in chord changes and have it play them back.
  • Open the drum groove and drone panels when you want more than a click.
  • Practice modes include a gap trainer, a tempo ladder, a count-in, and trading, which mutes the groove every 4 or 8 bars.

If you want to go further

If the click is showing you where your hands drift, 5 Steps to Freedom is Rotem's short video course on the five motions under most of what you play: alternate-picking control, finger permutations, subdivisions, legato and one-string work.
