BeginnerSoloing

Simple Tasteful Soloing

Make a handful of notes carry a whole solo.

To solo well, you don't need a lot of information — but what you do know has to be on a really high level. This workshop takes one line in A minor pentatonic and breaks it into its building blocks: the bends, the blue notes, the subdivisions, the double stops, the singing. You stay with each piece until it lives in your ears and your fingers, then learn a simple five-element technique for turning that framework into an actual solo. By the end you'll play a Blues in A with taste, and you'll understand why every note works.

What you’ll be able to do

Play the course's core line cleanly, in time, and explain why each note works
Move between eighth notes, triplets, and sixteenths mid-phrase without losing the beat
Control your bends so they land where you mean them, including the ones that only lean toward the note
Sing the A minor pentatonic — with the guitar and without it — so your ear leads your fingers
Build a solo from five simple moves: stop, change direction, repeat, bend, shift subdivision
Play a full Blues in A with dynamics and intention
